Background

Sweeney Shank Architects, LLC (SSa) is based just south of Pittsburgh in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1989, the firm has served a wide range of clients
throughout western Pennsylvania on a variety of projects. Over the years, our practice has evolved from mostly residential work to a full range of housing and commercial
building projects. The following highlights the areas we have demonstrated a high level of expertise:

Philosophy

Sweeney Shank Architects approaches each project with the understanding that successful design grows from the specifics of the site, context, and the needs and goals
of the users, rather than from preconceived architectural ideas.

For each project, we study and test given space and circulation requirements, carefully analyze the natural and contextual features of the site, and thoroughly study the
human and organizational needs of our clients to generate the design and realize the fullest potential of the project. Our aim is to create a beautifully designed project that
also achieves scheduling, budgetary, and programmatic goals.

Professional Services

Architectural design is Sweeney Shank Architects primary service. SSa is proficient in providing programming, space planning, façade studies, code reviews, ADA reviews,
schematic design, preliminary design, construction documents, construction administration, contract administration, and coordinating local and state approvals. SSa works
closely with expert consultants to provide structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and cost estimating services.

All drawings are prepared using the latest computer-aided drafting software. SSa architects and drafters use the two leading drafting programs--Microstation and AutoCAD.
Both programs provide the opportunity to send drawings electronically in PDF format. This increases the turn around time of the design while being environmentally friendly
in eliminating excess paper use. This state-of-the art technology and process enables SSa to offer very competitive pricing and provide you with a very flexible set of
drawings that are delivered in real time.
